Now accepting new patients!
Hi, I’m Patricia Schneider, DNP, PMHNP-BC
I’m an integrative psychiatric nurse practitioner who helps children, adolescents, and young adults get to the root cause of their health concerns by providing a comprehensive assessment and treatment plan that includes more than just prescriptions. I also offer options to parents who are looking for an integrative and natural approach to mental health concerns.
Mental health conditions are often rooted in underlying issues such as past trauma, unresolved conflicts, or maladaptive thought patterns. When we adopt beliefs that foster self-compassion, self-acceptance, and belief in our own capabilities, we unlock a powerful force within us.
I believe that while medications can be helpful in alleviating symptoms, true relief and lasting change comes from behavior transformation. I work with my patients, and their parents, to understand and learn healthy routines, habits, boundaries, and thought patterns that provide transformational healing.
My journey into psychiatry began with diverse clinical experiences, from working with adult patients in hospitals to supporting children with developmental disabilities and adolescents in inpatient units. These experiences, along with my personal journey through adopting my daughter and my son’s struggle with OCD, have shaped my holistic and compassionate approach to mental health care. I strive to treat the whole person, offering a comprehensive assessment and treatment plan that goes beyond traditional methods.

Common experiences of adopted children include:
A loss of control and instability through home displacement
A sense of loss when they think of their birth parents
Identity issues and trouble feeling included in their adopted family
Feeling unwanted by their biological parents, leading to feelings of guilt and shame
In young adults, this may manifest in difficulty creating intimate and meaningful relationships with family/friends
I help my patients to feel connected to others, nurture a sense of community, boost self-validation and self-esteem, foster a sense of belonging, overcome feelings of abandonment, and cultivate healthy relationships and attachments.
Parents of blended families may be experiencing:
Stress and challenges throughout the adoption process
Feelings of loss stemming from missed significant moments in their adopted children's lives
Grief when their adopted child expresses curiosity about their biological parents
Difficulties in navigating and adjusting to blended family dynamics
I help parents by strengthening their emotional bond and communication with their child and increasing their confidence in addressing tough questions about their child’s pre-adoption history. I offer collaborative sessions with the whole family, designed to create a safe space for open communication, conflict resolution, and exploration of family dynamics.
Treatment Modalities:
I value my patients’ agency and collaborate with them to create a treatment plan that everyone feels good about. I offer natural approaches and holistic care for children, adolescents, young adults, and parents that aim to address the root causes of mental health conditions, providing a path to true healing and well-being.
